Steak 'n Shake Night

Daryl and I decided to take the boys to Steak 'n Shake for dessert.

They boys were quite entertaining while we were waiting for shakes...but not as entertaining as Daryl.

Daryl concentrated really hard on the kiddie menu. He sat there quietly and did every puzzle. He only had to ask for help on one of them. (The "what's different" puzzle had him stuck). Ha ha!

While Daryl was doing puzzles, Matty worked at putting together his classic paper car. His little tongue was sticking out most of the time, especially when he was putting the stickers on.


Steven helped Daryl with the "Find the Difference" puzzle.

Michael played Poke'mon...as usual.

Matty ordered a Mint Cookies-n-Cream Junior shake.

I asked Daryl to smile. It must be opposite day.

Daryl ordered a Double Chocolate Sundae shake. He licked the cup.

Steven ordered the same as Daryl. It must also be make a silly face day.

Mike got Raspberry. It smelled good.

Matty (of course) dropped his entire milkshake on the floor. The waitress brought him another one. We don't go a meal without him spilling something...and Daryl wonders why I still make him use spill proof cups.

The best part of the day was Matty getting dressed.

First, he announced that he wanted to wear long pants and long shirt. It was really hot outside today. I only fight the important battles, so I let him decide what he wanted to wear.

Next, he came out of his room in a pair of jeans, a short sleeved stripped shirt (see picture above), and a long sleeve plaid shirt, and said, "This shirt isn't fitting me right". I think we all just about peed our pants. He had put the plaid shirt on upside down. He couldn't figure out why it wasn't quite right.

Then (yes there is more) he announced he wanted to wear his slippers. OK, whatever makes you feel comfortable.

He was perfectly fine with it. We got some curious looks.

It wasn't until a little bit ago that we noticed he had the stripped shirt on backwards...its a pocket t-shirt...it was quite noticeable. LOL! Maybe the fact that is was so close to his neck should have given it away too.

Beautiful weekend. Fun time. Too bad it is Sunday.

Giddy-yup Cowboys (and Girl)

I took the boys to Turkey Creek Stables for riding today. Daryl was wake boarding (pictures coming soon).

I didn't tell them where we were going until about thirty minutes before hand. As suspected, my plans were met with, "What?? That sucks!" (from the teens).

Matty, on the other hand, immediately put on his cow boy boots, and his "cow boy hat" (which is really a camouflage hat that is sort of in the shape of a cowboy hat), and announced he was going to wait in the car. LOL

Mike's horse is named "Buster".

Steven's horse is "Benny".

Matty's horse is "Magic".

But half way through the ride, the boys were all smiling and asking if we could do it again.

Mine was "Rowdy" (no picture).

It was a BEAUTIFUL day. The trees gave us plenty of shade, and there was a slight breeze.

Happy boys.

We had so much fun. Next time we will bring Daryl.

A bonus of the day was accidentally finding the Guide's retainer on the ground (so gross!). The boys saw it and said, "Ew, someones retainer is in the sand". Then, while we were riding in the trails, she happened to mention how much trouble she was going to get into because she lost her retainer. I told her I thought we saw it, and VIOLA! She was so happy.

Hopefully she washed it before she put it back in her mouth. LOL

Daryl and I took the boys to a Storm game. (Storm is Arena Football)

We had pretty good seats.

The boys had a great time. We all got burgers, and drinks.

The Storm won by one point!!

Yard Sale!

I hate yard sales. I always opt to take my junk to good will, in lieu of getting up early, tagging prices on everything, and watching people parade through your stuff like they are inspecting your life...no thank you.

Daryl, however, is a yard sale enthusiast.

From the moment he learned of the community garage sale at my house, til the moment we went to bed the night before he was planning, tagging, grabbing stuff and getting ready.

He went through his attic and mine, through the closets, and really did a good job getting stuff together.

Matty set up a "LemonLade" stand. He set out to sell cups of "lemonlade" for a nickle, but so many people thought he was cute and donated money. He made $10.30, and sold two gallons of lemonade.

He asked everyone, "Would you like to buy some lemon-lade?"

I bought a glass.

All in all our yard sale was a success. I immediately loaded up the left-overs and took them to good will. (Wouldn't want to go through this again!)

We made $191 (after paying the boys $20 each for helping).

Too bad you can hardly tell anything is gone. Maybe we need to get rid of more stuff!

Weekend Getaway

Daryl and I took the boys to Treasure Island for the weekend. We had the best time!

On Friday, we went to a restaurant called Conch Republic. Yum! We tried Gator Bites. The boys couldn't gobble them up fast enough.

On Saturday morning we walked across the street to the beach and set up a couple umbrellas. I forgot the camera. Oops.

The boys swam, and dug holes in the sand. It was very relaxing.

Around lunch time we went back to the room and ate sandwiches, chips, grapes, and black & white cookies from Publix.

Then we went to the hotel pool.

Michael's hair was super curly from the salt water.

William, Steven, and Matty were playing with Super Soakers in the pool.

At 4pm, we rented a boat and took a two hour trip around the island. I think this was my favorite part of our weekend.

After the boat ride, the boys took pictures at the pier. :)

We packed a ton into Saturday...but I was so glad we did. None of us got sun burnt, we did the beach, the pool, and the boat...and we took the kids to an Italian restaurant for dinner.

Sunday morning we woke up to pouring rain.

We went to Waffle House for breakfast, and then headed back home.

I can't wait to do this again.
